If you can’t trust a player with the resources at his and the teams disposal to take care of business during the technically zero pressure off season, how as a coach whose livelihood is decided by players can you trust a player when the pressure is on in the regular season and taken to a whole new level in the playoffs. Nieto, Bourque and Nemeth have to prime examples of players fans tend to dislike but Bednar trusts, and what do you have is a guy who scored 15 goals, a guy who scored 2 goals in the playoffs and a guy who led the team in +/- and who were all big components of the PK.

I know AJ and Jesse kind of laughed it off, but it was intriguing how Bourque made an appearance in the majority of their “most memorable” moments from 2017/18… Sure, I don’t want him on the ice 18 minutes a night, but the guy showed up when it mattered, repeatedly.

It’s very encouraging to read this. Can’t wait to see it translate to on-ice results. Life will take care of the younger generation’s sensitivities.
