I wonder if being on a team with two countrymen who get every ounce out of their bodies, like Lehkonen and Kiviranta, along with the idea that they’re being basically discarded, would be any motivation to 2nd and 3rd overall picks like Laine and Kotkaniemi to add a touch of urgency to their games.

On the one hand the passing of Maccelli around guys like Kadri and Nelson. But despite the passing talent he’s not really a creator and a soft wing doesn’t feel like a great use of resources. He’s probably still a few years away from taking a career reclamation effort as seriously as Drouin did.

AuthorMaccelli is a bit better defensively than you’d expect given his total lack of physicality, but he’s a very good playmaker. His fit would be basically the same as Drouin, without the MacKinnon connection
