I appreciate that you also know that Saren’s forces would have no chance against this Avs D.

Seems like Liam O’Brian is becoming the next Calvert… sorta…
Your thoughts AJ?

Disagree. He’s not defensively responsible, nor is he the skater that Calvert is. He hits, his hands aren’t great (despite a decent touch pass last night), and his hockey IQ is questionable. LOB isn’t nearly as effective in board battles or the forecheck.

I’m with Eidolon on this one. It was great to see him get on the scoreboard but the eye test does not show near the impact that Calvert makes when he is in the lineup, both on 5on5 and on PK. We miss him dearly, really hoping for the best for him.

Good recap, great second and a nail bitter finish. Glad we got Dubi, would be a lot more nerve racking if we were relying on JoJo. Get well Grubi!!!!!!!!! And Byram too!

AJ, are you sure about the MacK/ROR numbers? To hear Pierre on the broadcast last night, MacKinnon was some schlub compared to the luminous skillset and offensive prowess of Captian TimBits.

I actually triple-checked the numbers because they did not match with the eyes at all but they are correct haha

Just an excellent post AJ. Wonderful read and there’s a lot happening right now. Thanks for helping summarize and add a helpful perspective to it all.

AJ, how much do you think the PK’s recent struggles are tied to them missing Matt Calvert and LOC for long stretches? Their speed and aggressiveness really made it hard for teams to set up and I feel like their absence has had a profound impact on the effectiveness of the PK.

I know both are out for an extended period (best wishes for Calvert’s long term), so do you think Soda will help take up some of the slack? Sure seems like a good opportunity for the team to bring up Kaut and Bowers . . . .
