Good breakdown.

My one issue with the way hockey stats seems to be going is exemplified with the WOWY charts you posted. There’s so much going on in those charts and so many intersecting lines that making any sense of it becomes a real challenge if not impossible (for me at least – and I have a background in statistics). For a chart like that to be easily readable, it would need to have significantly less data or be much larger.

And this seems to be getting more common. I keep coming across posts and articles where someone links an incredibly complex web of dots or numbers and expects people to be able to understand it.

On the flip side, the *tables* people come up with tend to be much clearer and easy to understand. The Game Score ones are a good example, but unfortunately that website hasn’t been updated in months.
