Amazing article. Thanks for writing this, was truly a pleasure to read.

Ps. Isn’t this Mackinnon’s 6th season? Not his 7th?

He was referring to last year when he almost won the Hart.

Connor McDavid is a superstar but hasn’t been able to drive his team to relevance because he hasn’t had the coaching staff and other players to support him.

Mack has had two additional star players to support him, who helped him rack up the points until the rest of the league figured out how to stop them.

Then, even with three stars it took 20 games for the coaching staff to figure out they needed to change and find chemistry in different lineups.

Since then the Avs have done great in spite of missing two stars.

Other teams, such ad the Coyotes, have done great without a McDavid or Mack, thanks to having great systems and energy.

What this all tells me is that it takes more than a superstar, although we need one or more. It takes great coaching and systems and chemistry and energy as well.

Anyone can love a thing because. That’s as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect. – Patrick Rothfuss.

“Connor McDavid fights the uphill battle to prove he’s actually human (he swears he is which is exactly what a hockey cyborg would say). P.K. Subban had so much personality his original team felt compelled to move on from him. If a superstar plays for the Florida Panthers, is he even really a superstar?”

More of this please.
