4 weeks ago I posted on a AVS Vs Oilers Game Grades and asked what the best D pairings would be IF Cale Makar ended up joining the team. I hoped this would be the combinations.

Barrie Zadorov
Makar Girard
Cole Johnson

So much fun to watch Cale and G!

I remember the discussion on whether to play Makar at all and burn a year off his ELC. I think some looked at it as mostly a PR move or maybe a risky experiment. But wow can that kid play. Wow.

With the results of 2 games having been played in each of the series there is a realistic possibility that the conference finals could be all wildcard teams.

Anybody remember where exactly in the game this shift happened? Was having to flip between TV and radio and missed seeing some of it. Really looking for period and time so I can go back and watch it.

I think it was just under 6 minutes to go in the game.

Dater, you are not old, you are older.

Or… you can say you are old AND young… both/and, not either/or.

I like your references to things from the older days – they make me feel young, again.

I commented on another article that this pairing was not a good idea against the Sharks. The difference was in game 1 the Sharks were pushing the action and the pair were in the D zone and looked outmatched. Obviously I can see the justification for the pairing, but until they improve/mature defensively, I will always be nervous when the opposing team is in our zone.
