If the last game against the Oilers was the game that ended Colorado’s realistic postseason hopes – then tonight’s game against the Canucks was the game that saved the season. This the first time since they looked flat against Montreal following the 10-game winning streak that they looked to me like they played with the speed, grit and determination we had come to expect. And scoring, yes scoring – 5, count ‘em, 5 power play goals.

The Avs have a chance but with all the injuries it won’t be easy. Andrighetto, Barberio, Lindholm, and now Johnson. As AD aptly pointed out, there is now a defined point in each Avs season – the post-Erik-Johnson-injury portion. But not only do the Avs deserve praise – on the grammatical side AD, nice use of hyphens!

Great write-up AD, and a feelgood win.

And I typed AD three times, (now four) whew! Thanks AD (5?) for using part of my subscription and traveling to Vancouver!

Thank you Gary. I was well-schooled in the hyphen world.

Last thought of the night – if Lindholm & Johnson aren’t out with injuries, Duncan Siemens isn’t playing in the NHL tonight. That young man needs to seize this opportunity!

It has been a long time since this team battled back from a 3 goal defecit with the confidence they showed last night. They are a tight team and support each other and that’s great for our future. These kids still need to grow, but they have had a great start, especially battling hard through tough injuries like they have. I think the future is bright.

If we had five goals of which Barrie was on the ice for (+5), and they had four goals, a maximum of -4 to Barrie, how does Barrie end up with a -2 plus/minus?

Just wondering if I am missing something?

Power play goals don’t affect plus/minus. It’s one of the reasons I’m kind of meh about it as a stat, especially for a player like Barrie who does a lot of his offensive work on the power play.
