Is it worth destroying another relationship over 500k something that’s avs are becoming know for. Sakic, I feel lacks foresight. Sometimes you gotta give to get. This organization has become the Cleveland browns of the NHL. Players are not gonna want to play here. Sakic better figure this out, or the only people going to the can will be opposing fans, oh wait that’s already happening.

Sakic is doing the right thing. Once you start caving in to salary overpayment everyone will try. The same is true with trades. Hold out for fair value or nobody will respect you.

I am of the opinion to let the drama queens be as such. Drouin proved to me last year that any drama queen can be redeemed. I actually am more and more siding with Sakic on these two cats as the summer goes on.

No one ever seems to mention that Z is being petty over 500k, they just say Sakic is… it works both ways.
Dutchy is a moron if he does not show Thursday, but hey, as sited above, there was Drouin–

If both don’t show up, we can put more young blood in the NHL— so be it. We arent winning the cup this year, we need to develop as much as possible.

“We knew we had to get younger, and we had to just get through last year to start the youth process…”

This is a disturbing quote from Sakic. He set up the Avs to be in the situation they were in and this point of view makes him sound like he just inherited the team last from a GM who really screwed up. Well, he’s half right.

I agree that Z hasn’t proven himself enough to take a hard line, yet he knows that the Avs need him which is their own fault. Right now there is plenty of blame to go around for the Duchene situation and it is also clear that Sakic blew his chance to remedy this with a trade. Now he’s stuck because if he takes less than he has been demanding, he looks weak.

Sakic played chicken with the leagues GMs and no one blinked. Now we have a guy who doesn’t want to be here being asked to ‘be a professional.’ Do they strip him of the A? If they do it makes things even worse. If they don’t they have an Alternate Capt who may not be able to lead.

It’s a lose-lose situation and while both share blame, it’s largely Sakic’s making because he had the power to trade him and couldn’t pull it off. (and that’s his job)
