AJ, Great story. Here is to wishing Byram all the best, good health and a great career as an Av!

Agree, great story and thank you. There is a big part of me that is saying, “Byram, sit out this year and make sure you give yourself as much time as possible to heal.”

Great piece. Bo deserves some credit here too (not that you didn’t give it to him). Perceived peer pressure is real, and for him to be mature enough to know the best thing to do was to step away was important. To see his teammates respect that was huge too.

Great read, AJ. Much appreciated. League deserves some positive feedback for this, in the hopes that it creates a positive feedback loop of more player health centered policies and actions.

Excellent article AJ. In the long run, it’s the player’s life and health at stake. Allowing him to take his health into his own (and presumably) family’s hands is good to see.

I hope this is an approach that gets traction with other teams. I’m aware that the Avalanche had enough runway to follow this approach, and I hope that it would have been the same even if there was pressure to win immediately.

The Avs handled the situation well after they handled it terribly multiple times.
