Large agreement here, as usual. Quibbles: Fair point about the number of shots actually making it to Bernier being significantly less than 42, but still … there were SEVERAL opportunities for the ‘Hawks that looked plenty scary to me (not just the breakaway), and JB was a skilled wall (at least A-). No lapse in concentration. Also, I wouldn’t have given that low a grade to Nemeth. I saw some skillful puck handling under ‘full-court press’-type conditions. I’m sure you’re right about his mistakes, though. But overall he strikes me as pretty cool-headed. Finally, I need to become conversant with “fancy stats”. It’s a chink in my analytical armor. 🙂

Generally, I try to save the A grades for outstanding performances. I think Bernier was really good and have no complaints about his performance because it got the job done thanks to an offensive explosion. He did well. A grades for goalies for me are for shutouts and something absurd like Varlamov at Toronto last year. Just where I’m at on it

Understood. Yeah, many give out top grades like candy at Halloween. I’m definitely with you there. Keep up the good work!

I agree on Nemeth, bad pinch was bad. Zadorov when? lol… Mackinnon was working out there! Amazing. It seems like Duchene bottles himself up in the corner too much, like he should try to find the center of the ice a little more? He did directly contribute to a point off the faceoff win, which he has consistently excelled at. Yak was a bit dangerous. I liked Greer, he showed a little skills with the agitation. Getting out to 5-0 was awesome, thank you, posts and Bernier. Mackinnon should be getting mentioned with the best in the league with that kind of ability to take over games. Idk if that’s a thing to expect all the time or if he should pick his spots, but he looked like a player from a different planet out there.

This is how the Avalanche should look. With the exception of Duchene everybody worked as a team and MacKinnon dominated the way he should be able to most nights.
