“This wouldn’t be so frustrating if we haven’t seen so much better from him”
That statement could apply to damned near every guy on the team far too many times this year.

This team has gone backwards from last year. Their off-season moves were wholly uninspiring – Cole, Calvert, Grubauer, etc. As hockey teams go they have been fairly healthy. How do you explain it? Probably 2018 was over achievement, but they should be better than this. At some point you have to look at the front office and the coaching staff. I still think they are too small. Tonight is a good example, they just go their ass kicked when the game was on the line.

Think the Grubauer trade was pretty well received by all when it happened. Wouldn’t call that one uninspiring.

Jost is “Too low impact of a player too many nights.” It’s almost like he’s a 20-year-old who’s been on some wildly erratic teams performance-wise. I wonder why he presents that way… wait, it might come to me…

Why would you pose coaching as a potential reason for a 24-year-old college grad’s not taking the next step developmentally and not for Jost?

It would very much also apply to Jost.

Jost and Mikko need higher scores.
Jost created three scoring chances and Calvert blew two of them.
Mikko was all over the ice and looked like he was try to win the game by himself. He was the only one that showed any physical play.

Cole looks like he is still hurt and afraid to hit.

I saw the same with Jost. People seem to have weird vision of him including the coaches. Other players can go weeks without scoring but if they have a good night it’s noticed and noted. Jost can play his ass off like he did last night but if he doesn’t score than it’s just a another bad night for him. He’ll be punished and sent down to the 4th line or Loveland any game now and people in these comments will be calling for him to be traded.. I think Landy was also going at it pretty hard until he got hurt. He had the look he sometimes gets when he tries to take over a game – like the night MacK got hurt in Vancouver last year or last year’s home game against Tampa or this year’s game at Jersey.

You get beat all over the ice and on the score sheet 4-0, nobody really deserves anything above a C-. Have to agree w/AJ that Kerfoot’s regression is startling, he looks like he doesn’t belong out there right now. The absolute lack of any sort of urgency or fight from this team is astounding. Dallas basically kicked their asses all over the ice, and they just took it.

You should have watched Rycroft’s analysis of the first goal. It was all on Colin Wilson. Agg and Calvert were covering their men.

I get the impression that after Landy, there is no real leadership on this team.

I’ve really started to wonder about that lately too.
There looks to be a big lack of accountability…both individually and from teammates/coaches.
I can’t think of any other reason why we keep seeing lazy, uninspired play…repeated mistakes…chronic penalties…etc…
It seems strong leadership would be able to get stuff like that sorted out. But not with this team.

I had “too small”, “coaching sux”, “no leadership” and “AJ Greer” in my comments bingo for this game. So close to winning, but nobody has called for Greer just yet…
