Somebody had to pay for whatever that back-to-back was and since I’m an old guy with a long memory I’m good with it being Detroit.
I’ll be happy to see Toews back out there on Monday. Whether he’s scoring or not you can really tell when he’s not in the lineup

This was a better game for him, but Burns is no longer built to play up in the lineup and has been getting exposed after a surprisingly good start to the season. (Shall I just fire it around the boards and out again, or just miss a long outlet pass for an icing?) Combined with the Josh Manson high-event experience, it’s been tough to watch. And is it just me, or has Manson been getting caught out on a high number of two-on-one’s lately? Anyway, pity the league when we are back at full strength and fully engaged.

AuthorBurns’s ice time and role have already diminished a bit even with the Toews injury. Manson’s last week has been bad and he really, really needs to stop taking so many penalties. He’s never going to curtail it completely, but he has to chill out, especially when he’s both a vital part of the PK AND that unit is playing poorly right now. His play has definitely been messy.
