I think you really miss the boat on both JT and Bo.

JT’s line checked the only threatening line of the Yotes to submission in the 2nd and 3rd, stopping the Keller/Schmaltz/Hayton line. It was a key factor in keeping them from scoring. I have no idea why you believe JT was a dud, other than maybe looking at some stats but a nice defensive performance necessary in a game we weren’t scoring.

Bo’s slips weren’t great, but they weren’t the actual main problem. It’s a 200 ft. game and what happens in the offensive end greatly affects the defensive. When we don’t forecheck. Don’t win pucks. Allow easy exits. Allow easy counters. Give up odd man rushes caused by the forwards, it will be a jail break and the d men do get caught trying to cover more than their share of the ice. Those clusterfucks aren’t just on the guy back, at all, even if he slips on the ice and it looked that way to you. Pretty sure Jared probably didn’t see it that way, either.

He played a strong game and easy to say oops he slipped, he was a main culprit on goals and high danger chances, but too easy to just point that out he was a dud, and not seeing cause and effect of the game. Byram was CF 30CA12, and those high danger chances were most in the first period, when the blame should be on the entire forward corp not forechecking, which was by far the most noticeable problem in the first period.

Kind of amazingly, I think you missed the boat on actually reading what I wrote. Had you done that, you might have been able to save a lot of time writing out the comment, especially regarding Compher. If you have no idea why you believe Compher was a dud, maybe actually reading what I wrote when I limited my criticism specifically to his performance in the faceoff circle, would have really helped you out. I’ll copy and paste for you to give you a second crack at it.

“Today, he was miserable there (but pretty good elsewhere, so let’s call him a dud just at FOs today because I liked his overall game).”

As for Byram, I again limited my criticism solely to the first period, when he didn’t play very well, which you even acknowledged.

Maybe next time let’s try reading the piece before criticizing it.

I don’t want to write your column for you so I’ll just say Girard looked great, and I think Makar decided to end the game himself late in the third, it just took a little while.

It was great to see Rodrigues moved back up to the 1st line. The 1st line was great in January when MacKinnon had 20 pts, Lehkonen had 11 pts, and Rodrigues had 10 pts. If Bednar wants to keep Nichushkin on the right wing, then maybe a top line of Rodrigues-MacKinnon-Nichushkin and a 2nd line of Lehkonen-Compher-Rantanen, but I would like to see the 2nd line with Nichushkin-Compher-Rantanen, and see if that balances out the offense on the top 6.
