Great to grab a point on a game they deserve to lose. Offense is really struggling beyond the top line….

You haven’t graded Bednar recently. I mostly say this today because of your Varlamov grade. It’s not like a goalie is ever gonna say “No, coach, I’m too tired to start.” I thought Varly battled a bit better than an F (maybe a D-) considering how ugly the opposing heat maps were. Otherwise, I’m glad they at least kept in it and got the consolation point, but they’ve got to do better if they want this ride to keep going.

I think you being a little to harsh on varly… this game could have been a 5-2 earlier in the 3rd but Varly at least got us a point

Thought that the entire team looked a little tired and road weary. The young guys haven’t played a long NHL season and definitely are not improving at this pint in time. Hopefully the return to Denver will rejuvenate them a little. We definitely need some scoring beyond the first line and lucky goals by Soda.

I don’t think you can give a guy like Barrie an F if they score a nice goal in a low scoring game. I guess that’s where he gets the (+), but still, worth a D, barely passing grade.

The goal was worthy of the plus but getting annihilated at even strength and otherwise having a terrible game was a hard fail for me. Also, there were nine goals scored last night. Hardly a low-scoring affair!

I agree with all the grades and definitely your read on Varly. A healthy Varly thrives when he’s heavily outshot. Exhausted Varly barely held it together. You didn’t mention the 3 collisions Avs players had with themselves. One led to a goal. If they play this disheveled against Arizona, then they’ll be beaten twice at home by these guys. Unacceptable!
