

The offseason is over, and the Colorado Avalanche are finally back. The sting of consecutive stunning postseason collapses looms over the organization, but the first step in redemption begins with training camp.
Heading into this year’s camp, the roster is largely spoken for. The competition will be more for pecking order and different lineup combinations, but we see a player steal the show every single year.
Last year, it was Gavin Brindley coming in with limited expectations and forcing his way onto the Avalanche roster. He stuck around for nearly 60 games before the trade deadline necessitated his move down to the AHL thanks to the arrivals of Nazem Kadri and Nicolas Roy.
Brindley is among those fighting for a job again this year, but he is one of several in a mini youth movement.
