Given the injury troubles we’ve had this season, I think the best option would be to take all 4 goalies just for the insurance. That would leave you with the discussion of taking 10 D and 17 forwards or 11 D and 16 forwards. I don’t think they’ll have problems getting enough practice shots on the extra goalies during practices with all the extra players there they should pretty much have at least 12-15 skaters on the ice even at the most optional of practices. I think I would error more on the side of taking the kids to get the experience myself, so here’s how I would look at it (I am not set on the line combos, just easiest to lay it out that way).

Landy – MacK – Mikko
Burakovsky – Kadri – Donskoi
Namestnikov – Compher – Nichuskin
Calvert – Bellemare – Nieto
Kamanev – Jost – Bowers
O’Connor – Tynan

Graves – Makar
Girard – Johnson
Zadorov – Cole
Barberio – Connauton
Byram – Timmins

Grubauer
Francouz
Hutchinson
Werner

This would leave the final decision down to Dries or MacDonald. Personally, I just think the safety of having that 4th goalie available is worth not having one more skater available. With such a short, intense, and fast moving tournament as this is going to be after 4 months off that is going to be the position most susceptible to injury even if it’s just those little “tweaks” and I don’t want to be at the mercy of an E-BUG if it can be avoided here.

My bad, I didn’t count right. That set up would leave Dries and MacDonald out.

Let’s not forget what happened last year when we brought in a former #4 overall pick D-man to play in the first round…worked pretty well then!

Hey AJ, do you mind elaborating a little more on what happened to Wilson? So he showed up for a practice, and before the practice was even done he walked out? Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

I feel bad for the guy. I enjoyed watching him in last years post season, and it’s unfortunate with all of his injuries. I hope he finds a more stable situation to finish out his career.
