AJ don’t know if you see this, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on exactly what is going wrong on the power play. I heard some (who you know well!) saying their problem essentially was over-passing and under-shooting. I lovingly disagree. I wish that were the problem! It seems now the problem is they can’t even get in the zone and get set up. They’ve been stuck in a cycle of lose a draw, recover and try to enter, get broken up at the blue line, and try to recover and enter again. That’s no way to produce on the power play. Are zone entries the biggest issue, and if so what do you change to fix it?

AuthorI dont think entries are the biggest issue on the whole but they have been more of an issue the last couple of games. I think the PP issues stem largely from stagnation. Early in the season, they were moving a lot more and forcing penalty killers to chase and move, which opens up shooting and passing lanes alike. They’ve stopped moving a lot more, which means the PK structure stays intact a lot more often and forces the Avs to play through it. That’s obviously advantage, PK. Need a little more movement and purpose imo. Lots of stagnation.
