Great Margaret Atwood quote! Must be a Dater story. The quote is sadly apt.

I’ve noticed in the last 2 grade reports that the “Statistical Summary” has the bottom chopped off.

Yes, not sure why but it has been reported to the authorities

Great point about those two goals and points. Yak contributed and for a small proce. No reason to blame anyone for it not working out better than it did. Can’t always win the lottery.

Great article AD.

I was kind of hoping they’d keep Yak around maybe on a swing contract or something. Young, experienced NHL winger with an elite shot and shoot-first mentality. Couldn’t he have helped the Eagles and provided depth for the Avs? Or maybe Kerf or Jost would develop into a linemate he has genuine chemistry with or something. What is he like 21 or 22? Keep him around for dirt cheap and see if he blossoms at 25, right? Does that seem crazy? I get sick of how analysts want to box people up into age groups and such – “everybody’s as good as they’re going to get at 22”. Buncha BS.

Oh I see now he is 24. Still, maybe next year’s the year he figures it out. Or the next. Give him a two-way deal, the Eagles could use his NHL experience at the very least. Am I way-off here?

If you divide his salary by his 9 goals the Avs paid him $83k/goal last season. The prior year the Avs paid Mackinnon $352,941/goal.

He’s getting paid in the KHL multiple times as much as what he would get in the NHL.

One of my favorite guys but…just didn’t have it. I was kinda hoping he might get a shot at striking chemistry again with Dutchy in Ottawa but that didn’t happen. I think his positive attitude helped the team in the off season as they tried to erase everything that happened the year before.
