No Kroenke owned organization should ever be allowed to acquire any players named Lawson ever again. Hey Crouse, you can thank Ty for the ruined opportunity!

I think you can’t overlook how much Crouse, as a surefire roster player, would mean to the Avalanche roster. Knowing that you’ve locked down a top-9 player that is defensively responsible creates more roster stability, and a clearer look at the future for two relative newbies making player/personnel decisions with a roster that has a dearth of NHL caliber players.

Good and interesting discussion and thoughtful points all around. Thanks.

I don’t think Crouse being a fit for the Avalanche is at all a problem. He would fill a need for a big, disruptive, havoc creator on the wing, who is a pain in the ass to play against. He’s the type of guy who may or may not fill up the scoresheet, but will still be one of the players opponents constantly game-plan for.

Ultimately, if you’re going for an impact player on the scoresheet, you can probably do better than Crouse at 10. If you’re going for an impact player who can help you win hockey games… this is where the line gets a bit more blurry. Crouse is the type of player who just wears on the opposition mentally and physically. This could indirectly open up a lot of opportunities for the flashier MacKinnon, Duchene, and Barrie for example.

I think Crouse can come in and put up 20-25 goals and 40-50 points in today’s NHL pretty consistently. With the other attributes he brings, that’s nothing to scoff at. Also lovvveee that he’s a PK guy.

FWIW: I think Crouse is gone before the Avalanche are on the board.

It feels like Andi has Crouse tagged as Cliche with offensive upside.

More like… a faster skating, slightly bigger Winnik who actually *can* hit the broad side of a barn if he gets a clear shot, but struggles with turnovers. Crouse actually can play D (which Cliche, um, often struggles with), but he probably has around the offensive upside of McGinn.

Cup teams have strong third lines. I think Crouse would look fantastic on a the third with Bleaks & Mitchel.

We have plenty of top end talent but our 3rd and 4th are just too easy to play against. I think Crouse fills a position of need.

I’d rather Rantanen though.
