As Matt Calvert showed, you CAN teach an old dog how to skate. That’s really all Jost needs. Combine this with the fact that Jost is the hill Sakic decided to die on against Roy, and you have an easy two year bridge deal for Jost.

I’m buying on Jost…he’s never a liability and his metrics are great, even when the points aren’t coming. I admit, I’ve been pulling for him for a long time, but I think he’s worth it.

I do think “he’s never a liability” is a really interesting point. Very rarely do you see him on the wrong end of game-changing situations. Not that he’s out there for a ton of good ones, either, but he’s certainly not an active detriment to them.

So, not great at anything. Not terrible at anything. For a smaller player who isn’t physical and does not have a specific lower line role on a Cup contender, it isn’t a ringing endorsement. Sell. I wouldn’t buy into his mediocrity as an elite team. He just isn’t the right guy for the current Avalanche, similar to the other Tyson we had better options to replace him with.

Let me ask it differently: if you got offered Nichushkin straight up for Jost after the years they both had, would you take the deal? Both 10th picks; both in their early 20s; neither one is ever gonna be Mikko but Nuke has found his role on this team. I say: you already got Nuke for Jost (Nuke was free), so if you can get back a 2nd or 3rd for Jost, do it now.

Oh man, who chose that photo? I am guessing Rudo?

I chose it. It’s just. So. Funny.

Yeah it’s a riot. I am an out and proud Jost supporter, but still, he seems to find himself in those situations more than most.

I’m with you AJ. I think he’s improved significantly each year. He’s got the hands. He’ll be an excellent player.
