Thanks for the article. Good stuff! Couple of points: 1. the MHL is actually the equivalent of Major Juniors. The Russian equivalent of the AHL is the VHL, which is where Zhuravlyov is playing. He’s getting low ice time and that is one of the lower scoring leagues around. Lil Z did show well in the recent series vs. the CHL, so that’s positive. 2. Forgot Adam Werner? He’s likely the best Avs goalie prospect at the moment, playing in the SHL for Farjestad and has 5 wins in 8 starts with a GAA of 1.90 and a Sv% of .929. 3. Looks like you forgot Leivermann and Clurman, though that can be forgiven since it seems the Notre Dame coaching staff has as well. Ditto Kvaca, who is showing very little in the 3rd/4th tier Czech league. 4. Looks like you also forgot Shamil Shmakov, the Avs’ 7th rounder last year, who just returned to his MHL team after missing a big piece of the season due to injury. Stats look pretty good with 4 wins in 5 starts and a GAA of 1.59 and Sv% of .944 this year.

And the whole crew at Loveland and Connor Timmons will get bettter at some point and 2 first round picks coming next year. Great pipeline. Good they did the deal with the Eagles. But maybe they do need a head of player development just to ensure all this talent is moving ahead and feel connected.

Thanks Jesse. LOVE these prospects reports. Who comes up to fill in the spots next to Jost, Kerfoot, JT, and Kamenev in the lower nine forward spots will be important to how far this team can go in the next 4-5 years. Can Henry, Saigeon, Bowers, Kovalenko make it? How high is Kaut’s ceiling? Will Ottawa’s pick be high enough to give us a guy who can jump right in (ie. Hughes, Kappo, etc…)? Such an exciting time to be an Avalanche fan!!

It’s hard not to be excited about this team and it’s future. They’re playing with confidence, we have a stacked pipeline and our draft future is bright, whoever we get this summer.
Wow, when’s the last time we had all positions playing well with lots of futures in store?
Great time to be an Avs fan!!
