Thanks for the blend of analytics and eye test. A great adjustment!

I’m slowly but surely embracing more analytics. Thanks for noticing.

I noticed as well and wanted to second this sentiment. Nice work AD. Gives your grades a really nice slant.

I think I need a lesson in corsi now. That might be a good no game day article!

Corsi is basically just shots when you are on the ice, for vs. against your team, in %.

Wonder what would happen if Soda was ever allowed to play on the second line. Guy has 5 points playing with Matt “no show” Nieto and Gabriel “Gork” Bourque. Hopefully Kamenev keeps building up that ice time. Great start for Varly, will be interesting to see what Joe does with him if he keep this up and has good year.

Well said all around sir. However, I do understand Bednar’s needing Sodo to play shutdown, who else is there for that job? Plus this way you have your shutdown center giving you points and your shutdown line brings a real scoring threat, which is awesome, right?

SodaPop is exactly where we need him. He’s playing his role well and Jost is doing a decent job as 2C. Nieto will soon see the press box and maybe Kamanev will bump up to that line. I love it that we have a little more depth among our forwards. Bourque is never going to wow anyone with his offensive skills but he plays pretty solid and gets the puck for Sods like he did on Soderberg’s goal last night. The guy I want to get more ice time is Calvert. I didn’t like the signing this past summer but I was completely wrong. That guy is a good hockey player and I wouldn’t mind seeing him try 3rd line wing. He could easily be better than Nieto.

I don’t think that the 2nd line has had a 5v5 Corsi% under 50% yet….. That really bodes well for the secondary scoring.

Kamenev Hit the cross bar twice in one shot. Hit bar, Went up and hit glass, bounced back on net hit/rolled into the crossbar agian and off the side. At least give him C+ for that

On the first (interference) penalty against Barrie the Sabres player basically skated into Barrie from behind. It should not have been called.

I would like to see how Calvert does on the 3rd line.

I’m a number nerd and decided to average out the grades above (82 = B-, 85 = B, 88 = B+, etc). This list averages out to an 83%, or a B- for the team that won 6-1. Harsh! Haha.
