I expected the Avs to lose, but was pleasantly surprised at how well they played. Their defense formations were solid, their offensive pressure was high. All in all I had the impression I was watching two pretty equivalent teams.
I was really proud of my boys!…

With all of the big bodies and rough play from the Preds it would have been nice to had Johnson back. First time I had thought that in a while.

Better to lose to Nashville who you’re not going to knock out of a playoff spot than lose to 2 teams (Minny, StL) who you’re trying to help out of the playoffs. 7-2-4 since EJ went down. That’s 18 of a possible 24 points. That’s better than holding the fort, that’s advancing the cause. Barring a collapse, which this Avalanche team, unlike previous incarnations, doesn’t look apt to do – the Avs should make the playoffs. If EJ gets 9-10 games in, he’ll round into form just in time. The Avs can play better and just might end up peaking as they head into the playoffs. History shows that Bednar has some experience with this.

IMO, Nashville is peaking too early. Any team, including Nashville, could experience a MacK or EJ type injury. That’s adversity that the Avs (twice) have faced down this season. The hockey gods can be fickle. I like the Avs chances to make the playoffs, even steal a round or two, but – based on this years series with the Preds, it might be wise to move above the #8 seed. That would be a tough matchup.

Dang… I didn’t know the Avs were on such a horrible losing streak. I thought they were doing well but 10 consecutive losses? Not good… Not good at all.
