My thoughts:
It seems Vegas is playing with 4 lines whereas the Avs are playing with 2. Therefore the Avs seemed to do better when when Nate, Gabe and Mikko were broken up because we had more threats on more lines.

Bednar ragging on his team seems partly correct, but he also seems less adapting than other coaches – he seems to keep doing the same formula over and over again until it’s too late.

Paccioretty coming back has made a huge difference and the Avs need to cover him better.

Too bad we don’t have Kadri and LOC at the moment.

And Cerveau, let me add it’s really too bad we lost Calvert for the latter part of the season and especially for the playoffs. His grittiness was missed last year against Dallas and miss him in a big way against Vega$. But yes, we really could use Kadri and LOC back – soon. And if there is any chance to have EJ back in force, that would be icing on the cake.

Jost can’t handle the 2C position, and JT hasn’t moved the needle at 3C.

Both have bad possession stats for the 3 games, and it’s difficult to win when the middle six centers are not strong enough in their roles, but particularly the 2C must have a higher compete level with better result, as a top six forward.

Jost’s lost so many 50/50 battles, seems constantly bullied by the VGK, and his face offs are 6 wins to 21 losses. We do need Naz back.

The Avs are having their adversity moment. Will they rise to the occasion or not? Will they start skating, using their legs and feet again and will they want the puck? They are giving it up way to easily and do not want to battle for it. The last five periods Vegas has had their way with the Avs. Time to see if this team really is for real or if we have all just been wishing and hoping.

Thanks AJ. It feels like the Avalanche got out Avalanched. This is what WE usually do to other teams; dramatically out shoot them, dominate possession, forecheck like demons and breakout of our own zone with ease. They flipped the script on us. Let’s hope the boys flip it back on them.

By the eye, Vegas had controlled zone exits and entries all night long with speed through the neutral zone, while we blindly chipped out and dumped in (with no success) the entire game. It’s like we never had the puck on our sticks from start to finish. Not sure if effort (need to win puck battles on dump ins to force D to give wider gaps) or X’s and O’s. It does seem our forwards are getting too deep on the forecheck, leaving a lot of space for Vegas forwards to build speed through the NZ.
