So I find it interesting that you were able to call out that MacKinnon prefers to pass from the right side – maybe he needs to work with Sakic on that offside snapshot and surprise a few goalies 🙂

Thanks as always for the exceptional work – you guys rock it!

It could just be anecdotal for all I know but it’s something I noticed early in the year and I spent the rest of the season being subjected to confirmation bias haha. He’s definitely scored goals from over there though so it’s not like it’s every time.

Well said!

You touched on it in “The Playmaker” section, his change of pace has improved dramatically. He doesn’t just floor it as he was prone too in the past. He is much more patient and will lull you to sleep and then throw it in gear and the D man has no idea where he went. But, he also can go from full speed to zero in a flash which has really opened things up for him this season, allowing him to shake the D, survey the zone and often find the trailer for the wide open one timer.

That little cross ice aerial pass he does too!

Great analysis AJ, echo the sentiment of IdAvsfan about his preferences. There has been a definitive change in MacKinnon and patience with the puck, similar to an NFL rb that knows when he has to allow the hole to open. Hope he continues to work on his d, particularly imo the back check, and obviously face offs.

One ther thing is that his shot accuracy seems to have greatly improved. It seems like last year he was having a hard time firing on net.
