Roy either wants to motivate Holden and Gormley to “earn” it and doesn’t intend to play Guenin long term, or he’s stuck lusting after “stay at home” defensemen to the point where he’s willing to dress a player in his second pairing who is, as backed by a variety of supporting evidence, one of the worst defensemen in the league. I think he deserves the criticism regardless of how this plays out.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Zadorov with Barrie as the D2 pair. Thought Zadorov looked really good at Frozen Fury…though that’s not saying much since nothing really looked good from the Avs at FF.

Not sure what the hubbub is about. Zads was supposed to be Barrie’s partner and he wasn’t good enough. Gormley got his chance and wasn’t either. Guenin is the early season choice, but things will change. Besides that, the lineup and depth look interesting in spite of losing Ryan O’Reilly, and the Avs are beginning to develop into a good organization. Twitter people tend to over react with their armchair expertise.
