Avalanche Player Grades: Beatdown in City of Brotherly Love

I was supposed to go 1-19 on the grading of all the players who suited up for the Avalanche tonight in Philadelphia, but I’ll just spare everyone the trouble of scrolling too far down on this: F.

Eff, for everybody. Eff, for what were nearly three hours of our lives we can never get back after watching that crap. Good God, what an awful effort that was. I honestly can’t think of a player who deserves anything better than that tonight.

Did a couple players make a token nice play here and there? Yeah, OK. They’re pros, though. Isn’t that supposed to happen a lot more in a 60-minute hockey game?

From Matt Duchene’s early turnover in the offensive zone leading to Wayne Simmonds’ first goal of the night, to the robotic final motions in the third, the Avs were the Washington Generals writ large in Philly; Just a bad team playing the foil to the home club.

I don’t care what the final stat sheet numbers say. Eff for everybody. It was an affront to the game of hockey. No passion, no fight, no resistance, no camaraderie, nothing.

On to Ottawa.
