GRAND JUNCTION — The Grand Junction Rockies wrapped up their 2016 season this week, narrowly missing the postseason but still managing to provide their patented promise for the days to come.
BSN Rockies managing editor Drew Creasman sat down with Developmental Supervisor Tony Diaz who has been overseeing the team for the last three years after managing them before that. Diaz was also recently named as the manager of the Arizona Fall League Salt River Rafters.
We go back in time three years and reflect on the players who have made their way to MLB including Jon Gray, David Dahl, Raimel Tapia, and Carlos Estevez. Then we move on to Diaz’ current crop of exciting young talent highlighted by Riley Pint and Colton Welker.
We finish up the conversation looking forward to the Fall League and talking about goals for the near future. This surely is a good time to be an employee of the Rockies and have the word “development” in your title and Diaz is owed a ton of credit for the positive direction of the current youth movement and we can’t thank him enough for taking the time to talk to us.
