After missing most of the offseason activities due to a child abuse investigation, Antonio Smith returned to the practice field with the Denver Broncos as training camp opened today. Smith doesn’t really know why he has been allowed back to rejoin the team. “I don’t know,” Smith said of why he is back now compared to missing time earlier in the offseason “During the OTA’s, I would have to say training camp is more important, the coaches may not like me saying that but camp is more important. I guess coach really wanted me to go handle my business in OTA’s so thats what I went to do. But like I said, nothing has changed. Haven’t heard anything.”

Smith wasn’t able to comment much on any specifics involving his legal status. “I’m not really allowed to say anything, i’m leaving it all up to god. He’s going to justify me.” Smith said after practice. “I really can’t speak on it, but I have faith in the process. I haven’t heard a word so I don’t really have a time table, I can’t really say much about it.”

From the sounds of it Smith just isn’t able to talk about his legal situation at all but I would be surprised if the Broncos would allow him back with the team if nothing has really changed. Just have to wait out the legal process.

In his time away from the team, Smith spent time working out in Oklahoma and spending time with his kids. He’s now getting acclimated in the Mile High City. “It ain’t my friend I can tell you that.” Smith said about the altitude. “Last time it took me two to three weeks to adjust, so i’m hoping I can adjust a bit quicker this time.”

Smith added he is overwhelmed by his support of his teammates, and he is confident he’ll be on this team going forward.
