ALLCITY NFL Power Rankings: Are the Indianapolis Colts this year’s version of the 2024 Minnesota Vikings?

With six teams on a bye last weekend and most of the favorites cruising to victories, there’s not a ton of movement in this week’s ALLCITY NFL Power Rankings.

As usual though, there’s still plenty to discuss. So as we head into Week 9, here are thoughts on all 32 teams:

1. Kansas City Chiefs (1) (4-3) – Apparently Travis Kelce just needed another drop-turned-interception to wake up. He was phenomenal after that miscue against the Commanders.

2. Detroit Lions (2) (5-2) – The Lions celebrated the bye week by locking Aidan Hutchinson down to a massive deal. He’s a perfect fit for that organization.

3. Philadelphia Eagles (3) (6-2) – No A.J. Brown? No problem. Jalen Hurts suddenly has seven touchdown passes the last two weeks.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4) (6-2) – The Baker Mayfield MVP hype has cooled a little bit, but the Bucs didn’t need him to do much to get past the Saints.

5. Buffalo Bills (5) (5-2) – The bye served the Bills well as they dominated a Panthers team that has caused some trouble this year. James Cook continues to look fantastic.

6. Indianapolis Colts (7) (7-1) – The Colts feel an awful lot like last year’s Minnesota Vikings. Can Daniel Jones keep this up into the playoffs? Because Sam Darnold could not.

7. Los Angeles Rams (6) (5-2) – A weird scheduling quirk had the Rams playing all five AFC opponents before the bye week. It’s all NFC from this point on, including five divisional games.

8. Green Bay Packers (10) (5-1-1) – It looked like another ho-hum Sunday for the Packers until Jordan Love really got going in the second half. That was one of the better games of his career.

9. Seattle Seahawks (8) (5-2) – The Seahawks return from their bye with a winnable game in Washington and the opportunity to win their sixth game in their last seven.

10. Denver Broncos (11) (6-2) – Bo Nix and the Broncos have put up a ton of offense in their last five quarters, but they’ll face a different kind of test in Houston this week.

11. New England Patriots (12) (6-2) – The Patriots probably have the easiest schedule remaining and should be a lock for the playoffs.

12. San Francisco 49ers (9) (5-3) – The 49ers can’t seem to put two good weeks together and might just be a very average team across the board this year.

13. Baltimore Ravens (15) (2-6) – Lamar Jackson injury shenanigans aside, the Ravens played a really good complementary football game against the Bears to get their season back on track.

14. Los Angeles Chargers (17) (5-3) – It was nice of the rest of the team to join Justin Herbert in playing a good football game last week against the Vikings. The next four games (at Titans, Steelers, at Jaguars, Raiders) are very winnable.

15. Chicago Bears (14) (4-3) – Field goals weren’t going to get it done in Baltimore, but it doesn’t seem like Ben Johnson’s offense is far from taking off with Caleb Williams.

16. Minnesota Vikings (13) (3-4) – J.J. McCarthy returns, but will be in a tough spot running an underperforming offense on the road in Detroit. Not ideal.

17. Houston Texans (23) (3-4) – A glimmer of hope for the Texans offense, which was able to hold the ball for over two-thirds of the game against the 49ers.

18. Jacksonville Jaguars (18) (4-4) – The Jaguars hopefully spent their bye week figuring out how to get more out of Travis Hunter. They haven’t gotten enough return on investment to this point.

19. Atlanta Falcons (16) (3-4) – Your 2025 Atlanta Falcons: Easily the weirdest team in the NFL!

20. Pittsburgh Steelers (19) (4-3) – The Steelers will need a vintage Aaron Rodgers game to keep up with the Colts this week.

21. Dallas Cowboys (21) (3-4-1) – Same story. Good offense. Bad defense. Mediocre football team. (But a sneaky fun Monday night matchup against the Cardinals.)

22. Carolina Panthers (20) (4-4) – The Panthers faced a reality check against the Bills and probably have another one against the Packers Sunday.

23. Cincinnati Bengals (22) (3-5) – Bad, bad loss to the Jets and they can’t afford to be without Joe Flacco and Trey Hendrickson against the Bears.

24. Washington Commanders (24) (3-5) – Getting Jayden Daniels back is great, but losing Terry McLaurin again is not.

25. Cleveland Browns (25) (2-6) – I understand why the Browns refuse to trade Myles Garrett, but he’s going to continue to be wasted in Cleveland without a quarterback. Like Mike Trout on the Angels.

26. Arizona Cardinals (27) (2-6) – If offensive coordinator Drew Petzing can’t get anything going against the Cowboys defense, then there just won’t be anything left for Jonathan Gannon to defend.

27. Miami Dolphins (31) (2-6) – After an unexpected bounceback against the Falcons, can we completely rule out a weird Thursday night victory at home against the Ravens?

28. New York Giants (26) (2-6) – Losing Cam Skattebo is enough to actually make you feel bad for Giants fans. That’s how big of a bummer it is.

29. Las Vegas Raiders (29) (2-6) – I almost forgot about this team after their bye. But they’re still here.

30. New York Jets (32) (1-7) – Good for Justin Fields. He cares a lot and deserved to have a tough week end with a good win.

31. New Orleans Saints (28) (1-7) – It was only a matter of time before Spencer Rattler got benched, but this isn’t exactly the best situation for Tyler Shough to be walking into.

32. Tennessee Titans (30) (1-7) – By EPA metrics, the Titans are the worst team in the NFL and it isn’t close.
