ALLCITY NFL Power Rankings: Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers have overcome a lot to take our top spot

Handed the top spot in the ALLCITY NFL Power Rankings last week and an opportunity to validate the honor in Kansas City, the Detroit Lions instead flopped. That gives us the chance to crown a new No. 1 team for the second straight week.

As we head into Week 7, here are thoughts on all 32 teams:

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4) (5-1) – Baker Mayfield has willed this team to a 5-1 record despite a ton of injuries. And after wins over the Seahawks and 49ers, why can’t they go into Detroit and win Monday night?

2. Kansas City Chiefs (7) (3-3) – Xavier Worthy is back. Rashee Rice is back. And the Chiefs are back?

3. Detroit Lions (1) (4-2) – Just when you thought the Lions might be emerging as a Super Bowl favorite, they looked overmatched against the Chiefs.

4. Philadelphia Eagles (3) (4-2) – This feels like a big week for the Eagles’ offense against an always stingy Vikings defense. The panic button is within reach.

5. Buffalo Bills (2) (4-2) – Even Josh Allen can have a bad game. The bye week came at a good time for Buffalo.

6. Los Angeles Rams (5) (4-2) – Good bounce back for the Rams, handling the elements in Baltimore.

7. Indianapolis Colts (8) (5-1) – Gut feeling? The Colts might be the 2020 Chicago Bears – a team that started 5-1, but finished 8-9 after a first-round playoff exit.

8. Seattle Seahawks (12) (4-2) – Impressive win for the Seahawks who traveled across the country to play a 10 a.m. body clock game and handled the Jaguars with ease.

9. San Francisco 49ers (6) (4-2) – The 49ers have managed their injuries better this season, but losing Fred Warner will be tough to overcome.

10. Green Bay Packers (10) (3-1-1) – I left Lambeau Field Sunday still wondering if the Packers are a true contender this season or still a pretender. They need more from Micah Parsons.

11. Denver Broncos (11) (4-2) – The defense is great. The offense? Very underwhelming.

12. Jacksonville Jaguars (9) (4-2) – General manager James Gladstone was raised in the Rams front office and he’ll have a chance to get a win against Los Angeles on Sunday.

13. Minnesota Vikings (13) (3-3) – Kevin O’Connell is getting testy with reporters over quarterback questions, which is just the latest weird example of how the Vikings have publicly handled J.J. McCarthy in 2025.

14. New England Patriots (16) (4-2) – Drake Maye now ranks second in total pass EPA, according to SumerSports.

15. Atlanta Falcons (21) (3-3) – This team has now beat the Bills and lost 30-0 to the Carolina Panthers. What?

16. Los Angeles Chargers (14) (4-2) – We should learn a lot more about both the Chargers and Colts Sunday in Los Angeles.

17. Chicago Bears (20) (3-2) – It was a statement win for the Bears in Caleb Williams’ hometown. This is a team that should be playing relevant games in December.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers (17) (4-1) – I love that Mike Tomlin called out Browns GM Andrew Berry for trading his starting quarterback within the division. Good to hear an honest, and completely understandable reaction.

19. Baltimore Ravens (15) (1-5) – Sounds like there is some optimism Lamar Jackson could return after the bye week.

20. Washington Commanders (18) (3-3) – Jayden Daniels’ two turnovers proved to be the difference in Monday’s loss to the Bears.

21. Houston Texans (19) (2-4) – The Texans are in danger of falling three games behind the Colts in the loss column with a tough road game in Seattle Monday night.

22. Carolina Panthers (25) (3-3) – Where were you when Rico Dowdle saved the Carolina Panthers?

23. New York Giants (29) (2-4) – Let’s slow down the Jaxson Dart hype train a little bit. Especially with a road game against the league’s top defense (Broncos) on deck.

24. Dallas Cowboys (22) (2-3-1) – The Matt Eberflus experience was in full effect during the loss to Carolina.

25. Cincinnati Bengals (23) (2-4) – Even in a loss, Joe Flacco understood the assignment: Feed Ja’Marr Chase.

26. Arizona Cardinals (24) (2-4) – Important question that needs to be answered in Arizona: Why did the offense look better without Kyler Murray?

27. Las Vegas Raiders (27) (2-4) – Raiders got a must-win at home against the Titans before a road game against the Chiefs.

28. New Orleans Saints (28) (1-5) – Once benched in favor of Caleb Williams at Oklahoma, Spencer Rattler will face his former teammate Sunday in Chicago.

29. Cleveland Browns (26) (1-5) – If only Myles Garrett could be loaned to a better team for the rest of the season (or career). That would be nice.

30. Miami Dolphins (31) (1-5) – When the starting quarterback is questioning the leadership on the team, you know it’s all over.

31. Tennessee Titans (30) (1-5)Fire the head coach. Fire the GM a year later. Draft a QB No. 1. Fire the head coach. What a mess in Nashville.

32. New York Jets (32) (0-6) – The Aaron Glenn thing just isn’t working. Then again, nothing really works with the Jets.
