FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Mike Bobo may no longer be the head coach of the Colorado State Rams but it’s clear that he is still beloved by many.
Since Bobo’s dismissal in early December, the Rams have already lost five players to transfer, including most recently Collin Hill and Adam Prentice — both of which are following their former head coach to South Carolina.
Hill, a native of Moore, S.C., deciding to finish his collegiate career in his home state was not news to anyone. Even if he wasn’t coming off of a torn ACL and MCL, with how close he and Bobo have always been, it would have been shocking for him to stay put.
Prentice leaving is a little bit more surprising, though. As a fullback that thrives as a run blocker, Prentice would be a great fit with Steve Addazio’s ground and pound mentality.
That said, Bobo and Prentice were extremely tight as well — on multiple occasions, Bobo said that he wished he could have 22 guys that played as hard as the gritty fullback. So with only one year of eligibility remaining, the opportunity to experience an SEC atmosphere on a weekly basis and reunite with Bobo may just have been too good to pass up for Prentice.
Prentice will leave CSU with 18 career carries for 65 yards. He also totaled 18 receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown. While he may not have racked up a ton of stats during his time at CSU, Prentice was a tremendous teammate and will be forever respected for his impact in the community.
During his time at CSU, Prentice worked with a Night to Shine, which puts on prom events for students with special needs. He also participated in Reading with the Rams, which allowed him to read to younger children and spend quality time with them.
His presence in the Fort Collins community will surely be missed.
