Earlier in the week Walt Weiss decided to make a change in his bullpen. It didn’t take long for him to find his new closer.
Weiss first gave Betancourt a chance who slammed the door shut in Monday’s victory over the Giants, but its now Ottavino’s job to lose.
Ottavino only had one career save heading into 2015 but has now left San Francisco with two saves in as many opportunities. “Before last year, I hadn’t really pitched that much with the game on the line, but I’m more used to it now.” Ottavino said. “I also think I’ve made some adjustments vs. lefties, and I did pretty good against them in the spring. I feel more confident right now than I ever have on the mound.”
Adam Ottavino 5 k’s in his last 6 outs. 2 saves.

“Big O” struck out the side Tuesday night, and struck out two out of three in last night’s sweeping victory over the defending champion Giants.
Ottavino says he has three different variations of his slider that he can use at any time, all of which are virtually un-hittable. He has also developed his fastball to top at 96 mph as a complementary secondary pitch.
