The Colorado Rockies made several roster moves as right-handed pitchers Adam Ottavino and Tyler Chatwood were activated off the disabled list with the corresponding moves of RHP Eddie Butler being optioned to Triple-A and RHP Justin Miller being designated for assignment.

Ottavino joins the club after missing more than a calendar year recovering from Tommy John Surgery. Last season, he established himself very quickly as a dominant bullpen arm, claiming the closer role with 10 scoreless innings pitched before being injured.

Chatwood is back and will start Tuesday night after missing some time. This season he has become the Rockies’ best starter and a very reliable arm, holding an ERA of 3.15 through 14 starts this season. Chatwood even had a chance to make the All-Star Team before he got injured.

Butler, who was once a top Rockies prospect, has been yanked back and forth between the bullpen and the rotation, which has caused him to struggle. At this point, it was only a matter of time before he was optioned to the minor leagues.

Miller has been one of the weak spots in the Rockies rotation, and apparently is in need of a DL-stint. The 40-man roster still sits at 39.
