Hello Friends,

Whelp, Broncos didn’t make the playoffs so I’ll be submitting my official apology. What charity does the pod deem worthy of benefitting from the Broncos awful season?

A couple questions regarding the coaching search:

If you could get any coach, cost-free, from another team, or retirement, or anywhere, who would be the best possible coach for the Broncos?

If you had to re-hire a Broncos position or assistant coach from a previous administration back to the same position, for this next staff, who would it be?

(My answers are Kyle Shanahan and Mike Munchak, which got me thinking, how would Mike Shanahan fit into the CEO type we’re looking for?)

Cheers,
A.L.

Happy new year, boys!

If we hire Harbaugh, our Qb and coach combo will definitely be the most “eccentric” personality tandem in the league. The more I think about it, the more I like it.

Will probably keep Evero as DC (was on his staff in SF)

Hopefully retain Rosburg for a year or two as ST coordinator, or “special assistant to STs” type role.

Maybe get Munchak back as Oline coach. Don’t know if there’s a relationship there or not.

OC is the tough one. If Texans fire Lovey Smith, pounce on Pep Hamilton IMO. If not, I don’t know if his former college OCs like Josh Gattis or current one at UM Sherrone Moore would be up to the task of fixing an offense for Russ. His OC in SF (Greg Roman) isn’t being let go from Baltimore anytime soon either (I wouldn’t think) Hopefully Harbaugh knows enough people, to find the right guy to call the plays.

Thanks for all you guys do! ✌

Hi boys,

Last couple pods have been, to quote RK, electric!!
Great stuff as always.

Are we out on first time head coaches? Because I am. This franchise deserves better and should be held to a higher standard. I’m glad the owners are shifting to this more Bowlen-like mindset that has served the Broncos so well for so long.

Do we think this new strategy from ownership will be reflected in free agency? The draft? Ultimately this is where I see GP leaving/being fired if ownership gets more involved.

Thoughts on Lincoln Riley? I don’t love it but I could see him being in the mix during the process.

Cheers boys!

Hey guy’s
So I know this is a couple days old but how do you feel about Jerry’s comments on Russ. A week or so ago came out saying something about the devil not testing us he’s not the one throwing picks, and then just a couple days ago saying he’s the hardest worker he’s seen an stop slandering him. I guess my point is do yall think PR is just making him say that, or do you feel it was honest cause I sure don’t.

I’d pick Harbaugh over Payton every time. Russ does not have the same skill set as Brees. Brees could go through progressions, make reads, and check plays at the line of scrimmage, Russ is a scrambler and improviser let’s not make him something he’s not.

Russ is a better Kapernick, same 40 time, a more accurate arm, better touch on deep throws, and a faster delivery. Harbaugh took Kapernick within a play of a super bowl win, he also designs offenses a little more closely aligned to how our offensive roster is currently built. We don’t have the draft capital or cap space for a full rebuild, stick with what we know.

As for the roster though, I have to disagree with last week’s take that this is a desirable roster or head coaching job, Quinn, Javontae, Jeudy, Dulcich, Beck, Hamler when healthy…..end list, that’s who stays, sorry Sutton. We also lack high draft picks this year and have a bad QB contract. We haven’t had a respectable offense in half a decade and we need to accept that the players aren’t better than our record. It’s gonna be a hard sell to get Jim here so Miss Rice better put on her tap shoes and do some dancing but I think he’s our best bet.

Sorry for the long, have an awesome week

Gentlemen, thanks for your always excellent coverage and opinion – both on the pod and in print – including you guys and Allie working on Christmas Day and an emergency pod on Boxing Day, when most of the world had it’s feet up. What a team!

I wanted to chip in that I firmly believe George Paton knows what he’s doing, especially on the player side. He’s a very good GM. I know he’s getting grief for the Russ contract but I reckon this was probably negotiated as part and parcel of the trade (like Chubb’s contact at Miami), and we were all happy enough about it at the start of the season. Everything is easy to judge in hindsight.

I’m with RK that Wilson’s drop-off is unfathomable. At his age I can’t get my head round how he can regress so much – it must be more than just him – the coaching, the playbook, the injuries – the O-line. I feel (and hope) that it’s an anomaly, just like Von said.

On we go. Let’s try and beat the Chargers to worsen the Seahawks pick!

All the best, Christopher

Hey fellas, been a while since my last comment but I just wanted to hop in with a quick question! Out of all of the playoff teams, fringe teams included since we don’t know who all is in yet, which team does your head realistically think we will win the super bowl and who would you most like to see win it? Thanks for all of the content this season and I’m looking forward to the upcoming head coach search coverage!
