The Colorado Avalanche improved their home record to 6-1-1 with a 5-2 win over the Calgary Flames, who were on their own SEGABABA. Their fatigue was evident in this one.
A lot of great performances from a slew of different guys and lines, not a whole lot of bad to talk about in this one, which is becoming a running theme at home nowadays – a habit I’m hoping this team can hold onto while trying to figure out their woes on the road.
But that’s another conversation for a different time. For now, we can focus on the successes at home.
I wish I could give love to all of the little things the Avs improved on in this article (I’m looking at you, faceoff numbers), but alas, there were too many individual and line-driven efforts I want to call out specifically.
So… these are the Studs & Duds – Bailey’s Version.

I put more of the blame for the goals on the D than the forwards. I just don’t see a path to the final with Burns out there taking regular D rotations. And I think a big part of the 3rd line struggle was the D pair they were playing with.
You didn’t mention the PP but the one goal looked good although the 4 minute effort seemed to lack urgency. I did like that when the Flames decided to get a little too aggressive on the PK MacKinnon just did what he does and flew to the net.
