The most exciting college football player in the state right now plays quarterback for the Colorado State Rams.
After a torn hamstring kept Hauss Hejny off the field for a month, CSU’s dynamic playmaker laid it all on the line in a good old fashioned shootout Saturday night.
In the 56-49 victory over San Diego State, Hejny individually accounted for 419 yards of total offense, throwing for 333 and rushing for 85 more. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy also produced a five-touchdown game, tossing three and rushing for two more scores in the win. It was truly some Michael Vick circa Madden 2004-type s***.
Despite CSU allowing 565 yards defensively and SDSU’s stud running back duo combining for four scores, Hejny always had a counter punch. His ability to keep the offense steady by methodically moving up and down the field all night was pivotal in not allowing the Rams to fall into a deep hole like we’ve seen in recent weeks.
Beyond the highlight plays and sick stats, though, there just seems to be an infectious swagger with Hejny that gives this team confidence. The term ‘aura’ gets thrown around pretty loosely these days, but you can feel the way the locker room rallies behind him.
