Two days ago it was reported by DNVR and multiple local outlets that Freddie Banks was being dismissed from his role as defensive coordinator for CSU Football.

Football Scoop then decided they should get in on the action and reported the same thing 48 hours later.

On Friday the move was confirmed by Colorado State with a statement released by Jay Norvell though.

“I want to thank Freddie for his three seasons at Colorado State,” Norvell said. “We are grateful to Freddie and his family for their contributions to our program and University, and we wish them well in their future endeavors.”

CSU, as expected, also announced linebackers coach Adam Pilapil will be taking over the play-calling duties for the bowl game. He very well may be a leading candidate for the full-time gig, especially if things go well for the Rams over the next few weeks.

Pilapil was highlighted by 247Sports as one the top 30 rising stars in coaching at the beginning of the season. He has done a stellar job with the linebacking corps the last few years, especially with the way that he’s been able to develop players that did not previously play the position.

Marcus Patton, who has the cornerbacks coach since 2022, will coach the secondary for the Green & Gold in the bowl game. Banks previously led the secondary as a whole.
