It’s pretty incredible how Nate and Mikko are able to consistently generate offense despite having the team’s nth best winger their line. The cavalcade of injured wingers doesn’t seem to be hampering Casey’s production much either, which I find mildly baffling. The coaching staff’s ability to not just jam a player into a role but to facilitate that player’s success in said role is under appreciated. Any team could throw Ivan^2 on a top powerplay, but to have him understand the poweplay’s setup, his own role within that structure, and to slide into the role and execute with presumably no practice reps… I think that indicates that there is a team wide comprehension of the squad’s ideals, intentions, and tactics that is remarkable. Name another team that can lose 4 or 5 top six wingers and just keep rolling.
