Dallin Holker has played his final game for the Green & Gold. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end announced on Monday that he is declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Holker led all FBS tight ends with 64 receptions for 767 yards. He also had seven total touchdowns in an extremely impressive season at Colorado State.
As a result of his big year, Holker finished as a runner-up for the Mackey Award and was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Walter Camp and the Football Writers Association of America. He was also named to the All-Mountain West First Team, which is unsurprising considering he finished sixth in the league among all pass catchers and had nearly twice as many receptions as the next-leading tight end (38).
While Holker’s stint in a Rams uniform was short, the BYU transfer certainly made his mark during his time in Fort Collins. Holker scored twice in the Rocky Mountain Showdown and capped off CSU’s dramatic comeback win over Boise State with a game-winning touchdown reception. In total he found the end zone in three of CSU’s five wins in 2023. It shows how important he was to the success of the team this fall.
The loss of Holker is certainly significant for CSU’s offense next season. Jay Norvell has said on multiple occasions how important having a quality pass-catching tight end is for the offense and not having one was definitely a major factor in 2022. It will be interesting to see if someone like Vincent Brown takes a major leap in 2024 or if the Rams potentially sign another transfer to fill the hole left behind.
