As previously reported by BSN Denver, Marc Moser was officially named as the successor to Mike Haynes as the new television play-by-play announcer for Altitude Sports.

Altitude executive producer Ken Miller confirmed to BSN Wednesday that Moser will assume regular play-by-play duties for all Avs TV games, alongside longtime color analyst Peter McNab. In addition, Miller said former Avs in-house arena host Conor McGahey will assume radio play-by-play duties, succeeding Moser.

Moser, who grew up in California but has been a member of the Denver media scene since the mid-1990s, called Avs games on the radio the last few years. He became more popular with listeners as time went on, and got more responsibility with Altitude, hosting a daily radio sports talk show and also appearing on TV in various capacities. A licensed pilot, Moser’s up-tempo, high-energy attitude was seen as a plus by Miller.

“You will not find a more passionate person about Avalanche hockey than Marc Moser,” Miller told BSN Denver. “He has gone about his business in the right way and been very patient waiting for his turn for a television opportunity. That opportunity has arrived, and I am thrilled for Marc. He is as good of a person as he is a broadcaster. Definitely a guy you want to root for.”

Miller said Moser will still work up to five games on the radio this season.

The TV vacancy arose in May, when Haynes tendered his resignation after 23 years with the Avs as radio and TV play-by-play voices. Altitude asked Haynes to move back to radio to make room for a planned change to Moser, but Haynes refused and resigned altogether.

McGahey, a Breckenridge native who went to the University of Denver, will work by himself in the radio booth. The Avs have not had a regular color radio analyst since the days when Haynes and Norm Jones worked together.

“He’s a Colorado kid getting his dream job,” Miller told BSN. “You love stories like that. It was a tough choice. There were some really good candidates.”
