It could have been a very different and scary outcome.

Avalanche defenseman Sam Girard reportedly fell asleep at the wheel of his Chevrolet Camaro Sunday night and it hit an object in the Laurentian Parks region of his native Quebec. While the front end of the car sustained some serious damage, Girard apparently escaped unharmed.

“Everything is good. No injuries,” Avalanche vice president Jean Martineau told BSN Denver.

Looks like the highly-prized Avs youngster was fortunate in this one – very fortunate.
