Of course we need to bring Bernier back. I’m not saying get rid of Varly, obviously we need both of them. Who else is there other than Bernie? If he goes, aren’t we right back to where we were at the end of last season? but with 1 year less on Varly’s contract. Why would the Avs let Bernie go? Who else is there? Darcy Kuemper? Did he have a 10 game win streak for us this year?

That’s kind of the motivation for Bernier to test the market isn’t there? That the market this year is so weak that he stands out is a great reason for him to hold off re-signing in Colorado and seeing what’s out there. From the Avs’ perspective, bringing him back makes plenty of sense. But it takes two to tango

Fun listen.
I know this pod was mostly about the players, but I think the coaches deserve a mention for the great work they did last year too. Working with all of the young guys, getting everyone on the same page, getting 100% buy-in, juggling when some injuries hit important players, etc…
I don’t think the big upswing we saw last year happens without Bednar and his staff steering the ship.

For sure. The coaching staff was solid.
