This team is done for without EJ. We have a better defense this year, of course, but just like last year we will not survive his absence. And that’s alright. It probably (should) forces Sakic’s hand to go into sell mode. We’ve had our fun this year. We’d all be happy fans finishing with the points we have now compared to last year. Let’s not forget the mission statement of the year: rebuild, get younger, play the kids.

AJ – wow, what a great article. You hit the “coffin nail” on the head, unfortunately.

What a great article, although it’s sad. Disappointing, but as has been said, it’s important to remember what the expectations were heading into this season. The team has done well and the future is bright. EJ has terrible luck.

Why do you think Johnson’s out long term? Any idea what the injury is?

The fact that we’re all disappointed about potentially missing the playoffs just shows how far we’ve come since last season. Still hopeful, but the season has been successful regardless.

Great job AJ. I’m more impressed to see you grow into a legit professional hockey writer this year. No joke. 🙂

Fantastic article AJ. The tone may be set for the rest of the season, but I’m looking forward to what’s next given the team’s potential and the complementary coverage that BSN continues to bring.

Let’s all just hope they don’t get a wild hair up their butts and make a trade for a playoff push. This season has been great for all the right things. Let’s hope the good decisions keep happening.

How big is EJ for this team? Ask Brady Tkachuk. Well in the future of course.
