Thanks for being nice to my favorite player-Girard by giving him a D. Probably his worst game as an AV. You were pretty nice to most others except that you hit the “Nail” on the head.

Girard did have one play where he took some guy’s lunch money along the wall in his own zone

I’m gonna have to disagree with some of these scores. For one thing the 4th line didn’t do anything bad of note so grades below C to me are a bit harsh. I thought Greer had a decent game. Also a bit harsh to attribute the blame on Yak for that goal. Johnson should have helped more since his man stopped at the blue line and he had help. The Rantanen Compher Jost line I would mark down. Lot of big minutes but got crushed at even strength. I would swap Kerfoot and Wilsons scores based on that giveaway which was BAD.

A correction on the first goal – Wilson had the nice pass to Kerfoot, not Lande. And I thought Soderberg had a good game being very effective on the PK – a C- is a bit harsh.

Saying Zadorov “was credited with an assist” sounds dismissive. He made that first goal happen with an incredible pass from behind his own net to Wilson at the far blue line. That deserved some praise as the longest pass the Avs have had for an assist this season, but with the article saying Landeskog made Wilson’s pass, maybe you weren’t settled in yet. I agree with plandry14 that you were being a little tough on Yak. What do you mean by “sloppy play helped lead to one of Bufalo’s shorthanded goals”? He had nothing to do with the turnover, and hustled back to take away Nelson’s shot and force him wide and around the net. Due to the bump, he lost his balance for a second and lost Nelson behind the net, but as a defenseman, I’d be very happy with a winger making that play. Nelson then bounced the puck off the side of the goal, off Johnson’s skate, and in. Johnson should have been up and taking Nelson’s body instead of trying to block when he had support with three other Avs down low. By the way, Yakupov did play a couple more shifts after that goal. Thanks for the grades. I do enjoy them even if I disagree at times!

I totally agree—-Nemeth is an “IT”….and AD correct too….the ice seemed shitty and Girard had a number of mishandles, etc., but with that, that kid always makes a couple nice plays that other D do not.

The Lieutenant? Did I miss out on a nickname?

If memory serves me his name should be the Marshal, named after Sam Gerard in the fugitive. Not sure where they go the Lieutenants? I give the author a D lol.

Here’s the deal: He was called lieutenant Philip Girard in the TV show. He was called deputy marshal Sam Gerard in the movie. So, I guess the nickname doesn’t work, dammit.

Really bummed you didn’t seize the opportunity to title the article, “Jost Good Enough”

We’ve used a grip of Jost puns already this season. We’ll do more in the future no doubt but we took a break on this one

“Gabe Landeskog (B) – He made a nice pass to Colin Wilson on play that resulted in resulted in the Avs’ second goal, and I thought he was pretty good defensively.”

Just a heads up, you repeated yourself there.
