I guess there’s a fine line between being unbeatable and regressing to last year”s form. Yeah, No Mac and an invisible Rants, but you should still be able to put out a respectable defensive effort.

You know what else you pencil in an ‘L’ for?

Especially key defensive zone face offs.

I really don’t understand the faceoff thing, they had faceoff ninja matt on the team for years and couldn’t pick up a tip or seven? One guy leaves and the whole thing crumbles… I get it that the faceoffs were not great before he left either but its just embarrassing.

Because they were inaccurate with their passes they seemed to not be playing with their usual speed. The Blues also seemed to beat them to every loose puck and every rebound. On the 1st St. Louis goal on the PK all 4 Avs were in front of the net within a couple of feet of the rebound off Bernier and the Blues player just skated through them for the easy goal.

Speaking strictly from hindsight maybe Landeskog should not have accommodated Schenn for the fight at the start as it sparked the Blues, as Schenn wanted, and did not do much for the Avs.

We can cry about faceoff losses, but we may as well cry about the refs throwing our guys out of the faceoff and NEVER the opposing team. I haven’t seen one opposing player get tossed the last couple of games, but the Avs get tossed out 5 times a game, esp. in crucial situations.
