I think Bednar should get some credit for sticking with the Jost line as constituted after a disastrous 1st. Maybe he didn’t have much of a choice, but he didn’t panic either and re-shuffle the way many inexperienced coaches do when new lines don’t produce right away.

Yak is an enigma to me. He sometimes is awesome, but there is something missing in his game.

It seemed like they made an adjustment to start the 2nd, where they looked for the stretch pass and it forced SJ to loosen up in the neutral zone. I’ll give Bednar credit for that. In the 1st SJ was pressing our zone exit hard, and none of the short passes inside our own blue line were working. Once we started flying a forward across center ice things changed for much of the 2nd. By the 3rd, it seemed like SJ re-adjusted… or maybe it was score effect.

Sodo shouldn’t have a higher grade than Compher for this one.

Definitely an oversight by me. Good call.

Other than that, spot on as always AJ. I know Kerfoot hasn’t been lighting it up as 1C but have you noticed he still has more points than Duchene? That’s even more surprising to me than Vegas in the big picture this year.

He’s never been much of that guy. He wants to see how things go before he starts jumbling lines up a bunch. One period certainly isn’t enough for him to draw any strong conclusions.

I agree but certainly we’ve seen coaches panic and reshuffle after one period, which is why I think he gets credit. Whatever he said during intermisson clearly resonated with Jost and his line mates.
