As oroginally reported by Brian Howell of the Daily Camera, the Colorado Buffaloes and specials teams cooordinator Toby Neinas are going their separate ways, as Neinas, “resigned earlier this week to pursue other opportunities,” Colorado athletic director Rick George told the camera.

Neinas was much maligned by Colorado fans for the struggles of his special teams unit, which had six punts/field goals blocked this year, as well as his recruiting which many believed wasn’t up to snuff.

The resignation comes on the heels of Colorado’s hiring of Darrin Chiaverini, who coaches special teams at Texas Tech and has brought their unit up to 12th in the country in “Special Teams Efficiency,” as ranked by ESPN.com (Colorado ranked 82nd). While, in name, Chiaverini will be a co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach, it is believed that he will help out with special teams as well.

The coaching carousel isn’t done in Boulder, the Buffs still need to hire a new strength and conditioning coordinator at the very least.
