After nearly four weeks away from the practice field, Peyton Manning has returned.

The Denver Broncos announced on Tuesday that Brock Osweiler would start his fifth straight game for the orange and blue this week as they face the Pittsburgh Steelers and that Manning would practice starting today.

He did just that, and the Broncos official website has video footage of the 39-year old moving around and tossing the pigskin to his teammates.

Manning is the Broncos starting quarterback when he’s healthy enough to play, as head coach Gary Kubiak has said ever since Manning was benched in favor of Osweiler in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Nov. 15.

It’s likely Kubiak understands that while Osweiler is younger and more capable of running his offense — with the roll-outs and vast majority of snaps under center — it seems obvious that Manning gives the Broncos their best chance at winning Super Bowl 50.

Manning and his 18 years of NFL experience give him the edge of Osweiler. Think of it this way: Manning has three Super Bowl starts, Osweiler has three NFL starts.

Yes, Manning has been a shadow of his former self when he’s played this season — with a second-worst of his career 59.9 completion percentage for 2,180 yards, nine touchdowns and an NFL-worst 17 interceptions — but he still is the man the Broncos will turn to once he’s good to go.

Manning had the boot taken off his foot two weeks ago and is finally back to practicing. It’s the next step to him coming back. Look for that to happen as early as next week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
