Scott Hastings fired by 104.3 The Fan UPDATE

South Stands Denver and BSN Denver have learned that Scott Hastings was let go today by 104.3 the Fan and Bonneville International, the media company that recently took over the station.

It sounds as though Sandy and Scott (mid day, noon-3) will just be Sandy and Sandy – at least for now.

No word as to whether or not Sandy Clough will be assigned a new co-host – nor are we sure whether or not certain that Hastings won’t remain on air temporarily. What we do know is that he was handed his walking papers and that others are likely to receive the same. Change is in the air at the Fan and listeners can be certain that the station will be looking to trim payroll.

It was recently announced that 105.5 ESPN radio will be leaving the airwaves altogether after January 3rd. Radio is a tough business. No doubt the new owners of the fan will do what they think they need to do to make the station profitable – even if it means bidding farewell to talent Denverites love to listen to. Hastings has been great at the Fan for many years.

Who will be the next big name to be let go? Stay tuned ….

**UPDATE** South Stands Denver has learned that Hastings will not be on air even temporarily. Sandy Cough will be solo beginning today, Tuesday December 15

If they fire Alfred next I’ll never stop listening to the fan.

Get rid of the damn Fan Football Hour…it’s the same topics you just discussed for 2 hours. At least Dan Patrick talks about more stuff than just Manning

December 15, 2015

I would have let Alfred go before Scott. I can’t even listen after 3pm.

What is it about The Drive that turns you off? I’ve always enjoyed it. Dmac is a turd however but his stupidity plays well off of Al.

I’m just the opposite…I wonder why folks like D-Mac and BIG Al…I find listening to their sophomoric discussions painful. On-Air D-Mac comes off as a “tool”..I hope he’s not as such in real life…BIG Al is a jovial fellow but I find outside of football he brings little knowledge…lots of opinions but no expressed facts behind them….

I agree with you but it looks like the new owners may be dumping salaries. If that’s the case then I think they need to move Sandy to drive time and put the money saved in a quality partner (Schlereth). If you partner Sandy you need to make it someone that he respects and can bring it with quality. You could do Noon-3 cheaper and keep it local.

I don’t think Alfred has any clue what is coming out of his mouth next. He starts talking, throwing stuff out there, then he’s on an island trying to talk his way off. Then he’s contradicting his original thought. I want smart, well thought out sports talk delivered with conviction and not bombastic blabber.

Spot On, my good man, Spot On!

Clough works best alone. Hastings will not be missed.

December 15, 2015

If they are going to fire anyone, PLEASE let it be D-Mac!!!

I agree… D-Mac’s sports knowledge is limited at best…Big Al relies mainly on his experience so the great in football but for other sports I get nothing enlightening from him…just high school type locker room banter between him and D-mac.. bring me some sports talk with some insight…Sandy is the type of sports caster I prefer…fact based..and he does his homework.

I wasn’t a big fan of Hastings…relied mainly on his experience as a player and seemed to be short of knowledge when it came to something other than basketball…

Dan Patrick if good when he’s talking sports with a analysts…but I can’t stand delivery…and then when there are no guests its like your sitting in someone’s living room listening to then discuss all sorts of subject…non-sports related…

I agree–his shrill voice and superficial knowledge is a turn-off.

It’s hard to listen to Alfred at times–he’s funny and laughs a lot but he just butchers the English language and can’t conjugate the verb.

Hell yes, fire D-mac and hire Lammey to replace him. D-bag is horrible, can’t stand that moron. And don’t hire Kreckman, that idiot is almost as bad.

Kreckman an idiot? He’s smart, listenable & know his stuff. Lammey, on the other hand, just likes to hear himself talk about what a knowledgeable fellow he is. It’s tiring to constantly have him remind all of us about how much football he watches.

You must be Kreckman, using an alias. All my friends detest him as well. His frat-boy humor is annoying as hell. He actually knows his stuff, but when he gets serious (rarely), he preaches like he’s a know it all. Lammey does like to compliment himself, but he is good, and is funny without trying too hard. That’s why 104.3 is picking up Lammey, and hopefully Kreckman goes back to Chicago.

Kreckman’s great compared to Mckee.

I disagree, D-Mac is a bit goofy,, then again, who isn’t?! He’s a fans fan, who is also brave and bold enough to always pose the questions that most are thinking, but most others are too chicken shit to ask.

December 15, 2015

Hastings was horrible. DMAC is a dbag and needs to go. Alfred is entertaining but speaks like a 5th grader. Glad to see Scott gonee

That’s because you don’t know a fucking thing about sports Scott’s a great announcer

December 15, 2015

Since 105.5 is going off the air my suggestion would be move Sandy to afternoon drive with Mark Schlereth, dump Al & D-Mac (AKA Nails & Chalkboard), Dan Patrick 9-Noon, The Herd (or something similar) Noon-3. Sandy Clough is by far the smartest sports mind in this area, and that includes all the GM’s.

Clough is very sharp. Used to annoy me but then realized like when I am talking to people about politics and they are so far behind and distracted by hoopla , If you are putting forth knowledge and they are putting forth emotion, you can get short with people. Once I got over that and just listened, I realized how dead on he was a lot of the time. For example when Jim Leylond was hired for the Rockies and everyone was all excited though the roster didn’t change. When he realized how clueless fans and the Rockies ownership was, he was out of there!

Replying to

December 16, 2015

I would be bothered to have an increase in national shows. Patrick or The Herd bring nothing to the local sports scene and frankly make for boring radio.

December 15, 2015

I saw this happen with local talk radio here on AM band, a couple of years ago….it seems as though the large conglomerates like Clear Channel just want us to listen to literally the same uninformative, non controversial garbage…with no local flavor for each region at all..even in sports!

December 16, 2015

I actually liked Scott’s commentary on sports. He has called Bronco games, played in the NBA and has a long tenure with Denver sports.

December 16, 2015

Perhaps the act of a dying station. Understand the bottom line is paramount in business but sometimes you have to invest to progress. Mr. Hastings is a proven commodity with a very fervent fan base and will have even better opportunities in the future.

December 17, 2015

Clough and Kreckman at 3pm! Make it happen, Denver!!!

December 29, 2015

Wouldn’t be a surprise if Scotty rubbed the new ‘brain trust” the wrong way. Sandy is the best in town, works circles around the wanna be soap opera clowns in local media and can work alone. DMac, god what a talentless twerp. I like Big Al, he can speak volumes on the players perspective which really transcends the sport. He a good 2nd banana working with a monkey. Used to love Big Al and Scotty. Can’t listen to the Drive anymore at all because of that irritating little jerk DMac.

December 31, 2015

105.5 gone and the Fan is dumping what little talent they have? Looks like streaming radio it is…sigh

December 31, 2015

What a complete JOKE! Scotty was one of the few TRUTH tellers on air, calling things as they actually are, as opposed to many of the know nothing HOMERS that often times spew nonsense. Well, I’m gonna’ haveta’ find something else to listen to between noon and three, as Scott was what made that time slot bearable to listen to.

January 26, 2016

I like Alfred Williams a lot. A very smart man with a lot of heart. Dmac is a troll – wonder if it’s an act to drive ratings? Will miss Hastings, he and Clough were very nice together – clearly respected each other. Terry Frei is wonderful.

March 22, 2016

Starting in the morning, Stink continues to insist that he is back in the “Circle of Trust”, I’m not so sure?? He and Evans act, and pretend, to be the greatest GM’s to walk this side of Earth!! Lammey is a great addition at 9:00 AM. I disagree with several posts in that the next one to get the AX must be the BULLY CLOUGH. He continues to bully callers and texters, constantly wagging his finger at the Denver listeners and Fans. Clough criticizes everyone that does not 100% agree with his twisted logic, get ride of Stokley also, can’t stand the stuttering. D Mac and Big Al always get into an argument over every topic, very hard to listen to. Bounce both of them!!
